WHAT IS BIBLE JOURNALING ANYWAYS?
God gave us the Scriptures so that we may better understand what he is calling us to
in our lives as Christians. Bible Journaling is a tool to help you get into God's Word,
improve your understanding of scripture and to strengthen your commitment to God.

Your Journal
Find a Journal. This can be as simple as a lined notepad from your local office supply store, to a nice hard bound writing journal. This is what you will use to write down what it is God is trying to tell you through his scripture. The point is, it's not what the Journal looks like, but what you put inside it.
Choosing Scripture
Find the Scriptures for the day in the Bible reading program you have chosen. Most Bibles will have some sort of reading schedule in them, if yours does not have a reading schedule we do provide one on this website. If you would rather go as the spirit leads you, then flip your Bible open and start reading!

Read God's Word
Read the passages. Not just once, but several times. I find that re-reading the passage a few times helps me to better dissect what God is trying to tell me. I also have often found that by reading the scripture from a few different translations often gives me a better understanding of what is going on. Read with an open heart and Jesus will give you words of encouragement, direction and correction. 2 Tim. 3:16
Write Down What Is Revealed
When Jesus gives you a life lesson, turn to a fresh page in your Journal to record what He has just shown you. This can be 1 sentence, 1 page or 1 chapter, there is a reason why we say, "As the spirit leads you."
The S.O.A.P. Method Of Journaling
1) Write today's date.
2) Give your lesson a title.
3) Write down the main Scripture (Scripture).
4) Write what you see in the Scripture (Observation).
5) Write how you will be different today because of what you read (Application).
6) Write out your prayer (Prayer).
Lift Up Your Cares To God In Prayer
Conclude your daily devotional time by praying. Think about what God has shown you, and ask for his guidance, teaching and protection in those areas. God directs us to certain passages of scripture for a reason, so as you read the words on the page, ask yourself how God is trying to speak to you through the text. Then take your thoughts to God in prayer.
